- Long on one ear, a small stud or nothing on the other; hair back; the rest of the jewelry quiet
For spring/summer 2027, Paris showed asymmetric earrings both ways: one long earring worn alone, and two earrings that don’t match. Dior’s official account of its show credits its cascading earrings with introducing asymmetry, and two fashion publications saw Dior models wearing a single long earring; by The Zoe Report’s account, Chloé and Dries Van Noten paired earrings that differ. To wear it, put the long or striking earring on one ear and a small stud, or nothing, on the other, keep your hair back from the long side, and let the rest of your jewelry stay quiet.
What the houses put on the ear
The women’s shows for spring/summer 2027 ran in Paris from September 28 to October 6, 2026.
The plainest evidence comes from Dior itself. In the account of the show that LVMH, the group Dior belongs to, published on October 1, one sentence reads: “Scarves draped over the shoulder and cascading earrings introduce asymmetry.”

Who What Wear’s review, published September 29, saw it on the models: “Strings that resembled leis hung as earrings from a single ear, continuing this styling note seen in almost all of Anderson’s shows.” Jonathan Anderson is Dior’s creative director. The Zoe Report saw models who “skipped the matching earring altogether, sporting just one dramatic drop”. RUSSH listed mismatched earrings among the show’s details, and a second Who What Wear piece, on October 1, set them beside scarves longer on one side and necklaces “hung at different lengths”. Anderson, that piece reported, sees asymmetry as part of the natural world, where perfect symmetry is rarely found.
Two more houses showed it, by one magazine’s account. Reviewing Chloé on October 1, The Zoe Report pointed to “an emerging accessory trend already seen at Dior: the singular accent earring”; at Chloé that meant jeweled statement earrings long enough to graze the shoulder, “worn on one ear”. The next day the same magazine found Chloé “pairing oversized floral earrings with sculptural, ear-climbing styles”, and mismatched earrings at Dries Van Noten that included “oversized, jewel-encrusted designs in contrasting colors and shapes”. The rest of the jewelry at that show, brooches above all, has its own page: what Dries Van Noten showed for spring 2027.
L’Officiel USA noticed the length: Dior’s beaded earrings “extended beyond the collarbone”. At Givenchy, ELLE saw “gemmy earrings that touched the collarbones”.
Shoppers had been moving the same way: on Google Trends, US interest in “single earring” was up 19 percent on the year before, as of October 2026.
An old idea, and an easy one
The Zoe Report notes that mismatched earrings “have ebbed and flowed in popularity over the decades”: the look gained traction in the 1980s and returned at Dior in the 2010s, when Raf Simons introduced “back-to-front studs, followed by colorful mismatched earrings in the house’s Resort 2015 collection”. The magazine reads Anderson’s version as a nod to that archive. The idea also asks very little of a wardrobe: one earring on its own, or two taken from different pairs.
How to wear it
The runway pieces were large, but the idea works at any size.
- One long, one small. The long or statement earring goes on one ear; the other ear gets a small stud or stays bare. L’Officiel USA suggests the same pairing for a single tassel stud: “a small stud in the opposite ear for an asymmetric look”.
- Clear the long side. Wear your hair back. On Dior’s runway, L’Officiel noted, the length was “all the more noticeable against pulled-back hair”.
- Keep the rest quiet. The Zoe Report’s advice for mismatched earrings is to “keep the rest of your jewelry subtle and let the contrasting styles take center stage”.
- Give two odd earrings one thing in common. This rule is ours, not the runway’s: the same metal tone, the same color, or one shape at two sizes, so the pair reads as chosen. By The Zoe Report’s account, some of Dries Van Noten’s pairs went further, contrasting both color and shape.
Buying one earring
The houses already sell the idea, at house prices. On October 12, 2026, Givenchy’s US site listed three styles named asymmetric earrings, from $550 to $1,090, without saying which season they belong to, and Chloé’s UK site sold a single earring, “The Chloé Tulip mono earring”, at £650. Further down the market, gorjana’s October launch, put on its site on October 1, included single studs at $30. At Zara the same day, none of the 191 pieces of jewelry on its US site was sold as a single earring.
