FAQ
What is actually in the finish? A real precious-metal layer over a base — thin by design, which is why a piece here costs $46 and not $460. Gold-tone pieces carry real gold; silver-tone pieces carry real silver, and the silver layer is the thicker of the two by some margin. The base differs by piece — refined copper, stainless steel, or sterling silver. Specifications above says which, and how thick, for this one.
Will it tarnish? A finish wears with water, perfume and friction. How long it keeps its colour depends on how it is worn, so the care note above is the whole of what we can honestly tell you.
Which is the harder-wearing? Sterling silver 925 has no finish to wear through — it is one metal the whole way. A finish over a base is a layer, and a layer is a thing that can eventually go.
