Sold as a single earring, in sterling silver or with a gold-tone finish laid over it. It presses onto the rim and sits there without help. For the ear you left plain.

What is actually in the finish? Real 18K gold, in a micro-thin layer over brass or copper — thin by design, which is why a piece here costs $46 and not $460. We say gold-tone rather than gold plated because that is the honest word for a layer this fine.

Will it tarnish? A gold-tone finish wears with water, perfume and friction. Kept dry and stored apart from other pieces, it holds its shine for years. We have sold these pieces for ten years — the ones that did not last are not in this shop.

Is it hypoallergenic? The base is brass under a gold-tone finish. If you react to plated jewelry, our sterling silver 925 is the safer pick.
